To say that CrossFit has been a life changing experience for us would be an understatement. Shortly after joining their first CrossFit gym in Kelowna, Ross and Jodi realized that within the walls of a CrossFit gym was where they wanted to spend the rest of their lives.
After making the decision to open a CrossFit gym, the next question to answer was where to open. The pair settled on the beautiful and friendly town of Penticton, BC and began the process of making it possible.
Since opening the gym in May of 2013, Ross has continued his passion for learning and providing the best possible experience for his clients. He is a certified level 2 CrossFit trainer and also holds certifications in CrossFit Gymnastics and CrossFit Weightlifting.
Ross’ favorite parts of being a CrossFit gym owner and coach is helping people break through physical and mental barriers and witnessing the empowerment that these experiences provide. He also loves watching the support that the CrossFit Penticton community provides and seeing all the friendships that have been born out of his facility.

Sonora started CrossFit in 2013 after seeing women in the CrossFit games doing handstand push-ups. She decided to get her Level 1 because she felt so passionate about the CrossFit methodology and wanted to share the experience with others. She currently holds a CrossFit level 2 certification as well as her NCCP Club Coach and Technical Official L4 for Olympic Weightlifting.
Her favourite movements are Snatch, Clean and Jerk and any high skill gymnastics! She loves coaching weightlifting because it’s amazing when all the pieces come together and everything clicks. Plus she loves seeing people get stronger!
Laura has been a CrossFit athlete since 2011, and a coach since 2019. Ever since she started CrossFit she’s been drawn to the encouraging community atmosphere. She loves to spend time working out with people who quickly become friends and are always there to cheer and uplift each other. For Laura, coaching was a natural second step after learning and loving the sport of CrossFit.
She enjoys getting to know each of her athletes and being able to teach them about how movement is one of the keys to a happy and healthy life. She has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, which is the study of human movement. Laura completed her CrossFit level 2 certification in March 2019. Her favourite thing about coaching is seeing people succeed in things they have been working hard towards. Fun facts: Laura loves cats and has a hairless “sphinx” cat named Ziggy Stardust! Her favourite CrossFit movement is overhead squats.
Janyce has been a CrossFit athlete since 2007, and a coach since 2017. Her favorite part of coaching is witnessing someone’s effort to be the best version of themselves for that hour. She really enjoys assisting clients to move safely yet is still mindful to ensure they are having fun. She loves that athletes walk through the doors each day to accomplish their goals and that Crossfit doesn’t have a ‘ceiling’ or a finish line.
Janyce has completed her Crossfit Level 1, Crossfit Kids and most recently Crossfit Level 2 certification. She absolutely loves coaching the last few minutes of a WOD. She finds that there is something unique that takes place mentally in an athlete in those final seconds. Being right next to them, yelling over the cranked tunes and helping them break through barriers is what she thrives on as a coach.
Every day a new Workout is posted, called the Workout of the Day or WOD. Everyone who comes to class that day does a version of the same WOD, based on their fitness level and goals, and receives a score based on time of completion, reps accumulated, or total work output — this creates a camaraderie among the participants that is unlike any other gym experience. In fact, it is more akin to the feeling one gets when they belong to an organized sports team.
